Copper Roofs and Copper Accents
Copper roofing is metal roofing at its most permanent: installed right, a copper roof can last 100 years and outlive the building under it. Most of our copper work is not a whole roof, though. It is the piece of the house everyone looks at, which is the turret, the spire, the bay window or the porch roof.
Copper costs more than steel up front. What you get back is a roof that does not need replacing, does not leak when the details are done properly, and looks better every year instead of worse. This is the work Classic Superoof is known for in Dallas-Fort Worth, and it is fabricated by our own shop rather than ordered out of a catalog.

Copper Features and Options
What We Build in Copper
Turrets and spires
Round and polygonal turrets, finials and spires, each one laid out and formed for the specific frame it sits on. These are the projects other roofers hand off.
Bay windows and porch roofs
Small copper roofs over bays, entries, porches and dormers are the most common way homeowners add copper, and they read as a deliberate design choice on brick and stone homes.
Full copper roofs
Standing seam and flat lock copper for whole roofs and large sections, including the flashing, valleys and gutter work that decide whether a copper roof stays dry.
Custom fabricated details
Chimney caps, cupolas, awnings, dormer cladding, gutters and downspouts formed to match the house. Accent designs in copper stay in style because copper does.
Pairing Copper With Other Roofs
Copper accents work beautifully against a slate or natural slate roof and against stone coated steel in tile and shake profiles. A common combination is a stone coated steel field roof with copper turrets, bay roofs and chimney caps, which puts the money where it shows.

How Copper Weathers
New copper is bright and almost pink. Over the first months it darkens to a warm bronze, then to a deep brown, and over many years in exposed conditions it develops the green patina people picture when they think of copper. That change is the metal protecting itself, and it is why copper needs so little maintenance: no painting, no coating, no annual service.
If you want the brown stage to last, keep the copper under some shelter and expect it to move slowly. If you want green, be patient; in North Texas it takes decades.
Copper Roofing Questions
When installed right, a copper roof can last 100 years and can outlast the building it is on. That is the reason people accept the higher up-front cost: there is no replacement cycle to plan for.
The metal itself costs more and the work is hand fabrication rather than panel installation. Turrets, spires and bay roofs are laid out and formed for one specific frame, which takes shop time and experience.
Eventually, if it stays exposed. It moves from bright to bronze to brown first, and full green patina takes many years in this climate. Sheltered copper stays brown far longer.
Very little. There is nothing to paint and nothing to coat. Keep the gutters and valleys clear and have the flashing looked at if a leak ever appears, which is almost always a detail rather than the metal.
Yes, and that is what most of our customers do. A copper turret, bay window roof, porch roof or chimney cap can be added while the rest of the roof stays steel, stone coated steel or slate.
