Plenty of homes need more than one roof system. Where the pitch is steep enough to shed water, standing seam metal is the better long term choice. Where the roof flattens out over a porch, addition or second storey, a welded membrane keeps water out far more reliably than any panel would.
The hard part is the transition between the two. We detailed the joint so the metal terminates over the membrane rather than into it, giving water one clear path off the building and no seam to work back through. Both systems were installed by our own crews in the same pass, so nothing was left waiting between trades.
