A metal roof costs more up front than composition shingles and lasts far longer, so the comparison that matters is cost per year rather than cost today. We call it investment grade roofing. The manufacturer warranty on our stone coated steel systems is fully transferable at no cost to the homeowner, so the next owner inherits the coverage rather than starting over. Buyers also see a roof that will not need replacing, which is the opposite of a twenty-year-old shingle roof on an inspection report.

Our stone coated steel systems are classified UL 2218 Class 4 hail resistant, the highest impact rating, and are warrantied for 50 years against hail penetration and 120 mph winds. Class 4 hail resistant roofing is eligible for the maximum roofing discounts available in Texas, but the discount itself is set by your carrier, not by us. Ask your agent what they allow for a UL 2218 Class 4 roof before you decide, and we will supply the product documentation they ask for.

Usually yes. Our stone coated steel roofs may be installed over one existing layer of cedar shingles, shakes, cement fibre, composition or sheet metal and still comply with city and insurance codes. Multiple layers have to come off first, for example composition over wood. At about 1.5 pounds per square foot the panels are light enough that most homes need no reframing.

Panels sit on a 2x2 timber batten system that lifts them above the existing roof or deck and lets air move underneath, which puts the house in the shade and makes the roof far more energy efficient. Installation is turn-key, quick and clean, and the whole system arrives with colour-coordinated vents and flashings.

Our own factory-trained crews, not subcontractors. Panels interlock and are fastened horizontally, which avoids the fastener pull-out that lets wind lift other roofing materials. Systems have been tested successfully against winds over 120 mph and 8.8 inches of rain per hour.

It is 26 gauge zincalume-coated steel, the most corrosion-resistant steel available, coated with acrylic-bonded 3M granules so it reads as tile, shake or shingle rather than painted metal. Not the systems we install. The stone chip coating deadens sound, and the panels sit on battens over your existing roof or deck rather than on bare framing. What people picture when they imagine a noisy metal roof is bare corrugated sheet on an open barn, which is not what goes on a house.

The ceramic stone finish resists fading and weathers naturally rather than chalking like paint, and performance does not diminish with age. Colours are available in a wide range of natural and custom shades, and we keep samples in the Haslet showroom so you can see them in daylight before choosing.

Texas Property Code 202.011 limits how far a homeowners association can prohibit roofing that is wind and hail resistant, energy efficient, or solar shingles resembling the shingles otherwise allowed, and stone coated steel shingle profiles are often reviewed under it. Yes. Our stone coated steel systems installed over one existing layer comply with current city and insurance codes and certifications, and the panels are UL Class A, meaning impervious to fire. We handle the permitting side of the job as part of the install.

Effectively none. The systems we install are permanent and maintenance-free: the steel base will not curl, cup, warp, split or break, does not absorb moisture, and is mildew and corrosion resistant. Keep gutters and valleys clear of leaves and the roof looks after itself year after year.
